So I am surfing the web one day and I stumbled upon the Victoria and Albert Museum, in England, website. They’re preparing for their exhibition of ‘Wedding Dresses’ in 2013 so they are creating a database of photographs of clothes worn for weddings from different cultures between 1840 to the present.
The database will provide an incredible record of fashion trends, customs, and styles from around the world. To build a useful historical record they request that the sender provide at least three photographs; the year of the wedding plus the names of the bride and groom; the place and the religion of the wedding.
Ideally the three images will show the fashion from the wedding and the principal image should focus on the detail of the wedding dress.
How great to go through your pictures, and the generations of your family, and become a part of history…
When the entire project is completed, we'll have an incredible flashback into wedding fashion history. But I can't help but think how cool it would be to see additional theme-based, or perhaps era-based, fashion flashbacks too. The 1950s may show varieties of poodle skirts and Cat's eye glasses, while the 1970s will show plenty of corduroy, tracksuits, and platform shoes.
Hmm… Here's my flashback gallery for all to enjoy!
