What is a sample gown?
Many bridal manufacturers require their retailers to buy a minimum number of pieces to be used as showroom items, also known as “samples”. These gowns come in a variety of sizes and may have been tried on several times or not at all depending on the store. While these gowns have not been worn in a wedding or altered they may have some small imperfections, surface dirt, or require small repairs from being tried on which is why we are able to offer them at up to 80% off their original retail prices.
Where does bridepower.com get its inventory?
We show most of our inventory online. You can browse both our curated Special Order collections and Sample off-the-rack gowns. For our Sample off-the-rack gowns, bridepower.com works in collaboration with a network of upscale bridal retailers and manufacturers who have excess inventory for a variety of reasons.
What does “out of stock” mean?
“In stock” indicates whether the gown is currently available and on the floor at our Watertown store. If it states “No longer available”, we do not have this gown currently, but may receive it again in a future shipment. If you are sure you want that gown, use our Gown Notifier feature. If this gown should come in again, we can notify you. If you have questions about the dress, use the inquiry button on the gown details page.
What if I do not see the designer I am interested in listed under designers?
If a designer is not listed on our site under the designer drop down we do not carry that particular designer.
What condition are your sample gowns in?
The condition of a sample will vary from gown to gown. Samples that have been tried on may have some surface dirt or need minor repairs. To find the condition on a particular gown call us at 800-831-8697 or email us.
How does bridal sizing run?
Wedding gowns run small. So for example, if you are a size 10 in a regular dress you are likely to be a size 12 or 14 in a wedding gown. The general rule to finding your bridal size is to add one to two sizes to your normal street clothing size. If you have any questions about our inventory and alterations please Ask Us or call us at 1-866-THE-GOWN.
How many sizes can a gown be altered?
Generally, gowns can be sized down a few sizes by a qualified wedding gown seamstress. If there is a specific gown you are interested in and you have questions regarding alterations, please email us and we’ll be happy to help! Many gowns can also be altered up slightly by a professional bridal seamstress. It does depend on the gown and designer; so if there is a gown that you are concerned about the sizing for, please ask us for more information. A qualified wedding gown seamstress/tailor in your local area should perform any alterations.

How will my gown be packaged when it arrives?
We ship all of our gowns in corrugated boxes. Inside the gown will be in a clear plastic garment zip up bag with a white garment cover bag on top.
