In 1994, Claire, along with her partner and husband, Guy Toley, started their own wedding gown line. Their goal was to create to designs that reflected Pettibone’s early childhood memories of living in a rustic 19th century farmhouse with breathtaking views of majestic hills and the simple beauty of nature. The wedding gowns take inspiration from everything Mother Nature—including trees, flowers, vines and plants. Claire Pettibone offers something different for the bride who is more free-spirited. She wants to make a bride goddess-like with her use of only the most luxurious and sumptuous fabrics available, with an emphasis on antique-style laces and shimmering silks. The frocks are definitely out of the ordinary and the embellishments are done with the most intricate of hand-cut detailing. Claire is also not afraid to step outside of the box when it comes to color. Many of her wedding gowns have pops of color in the form of flowers and other nature-inspired adornments.
