The proposal

After three years of dating, In July of 2014, Michelle and Alex, planned a trip to see family and friends in San Francisco, which included a picturesque cruise to Alaska, followed by a drive down the coast of California to visit Alex’s dad in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Michelle says, “On the cruise, we had just left Victoria, British Columbia and were sailing back to California. We were in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, when Alex got dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife!”

The venue

Michelle and Alex were married during beautiful outdoor, waterside ceremony, at the Old Field Club in Old Field, New York. The reception was also held at the same location. Michelle says, “I didn’t have an exact theme in mind when planning our wedding. Our venue had amazing high ceilings and beautiful architectural elements such as rustic wooden beams and dramatic chandeliers, as well as a breathtaking view of the water, so I felt that there was little that I had to do to decorate the space.”

The color scheme for Michelle and Alex’s wedding was dusty blue, pink and white. Michelle’s bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo dresses in ciel blue, and held bouquets of soft white roses with pink accent flowers, seeded eucalyptus, lamb’s Ear and antique hydrangea. The same flowers were also in Michelle’s bouquet and adorned the ceremony and reception areas.

The dress

Michelle says, “My experience with VOWS started before I even made an appointment. I created an online account and saved a few gowns that I was interested in. When I arrived at my appointment with my mother and friend, Kristi, we were able to look around the showroom floor while my consultant, Amelia, grabbed the gowns that I had chosen from their website. I tried on about 10 different gowns, until I finally tried on my Vera Wang gown. When I think of the classic bride, I think of Vera Wang. I fell in love with the simplicity and elegance of this gown as soon as I saw myself in it. I also love the chic details such as the Alencon lace and tulle accents that give the gown a little added character. It fit perfectly, in that moment I knew that I had found my wedding gown!”
